In 2010, I opened my first Etsy shop - Mad Cow Concrete. For a year I spent my weekends shuffling though Alabama's antique shops to find unique homewares that I could recast in cement moulds. The Mad Cow was short-lived; but in its lifetime, I created a new niche product market - concrete cabinet knobs. In 2012, I opened my 2.0 Etsy shop - Kast Concrete Knobs...which went on to become a national brand with the backing of some kickass retailers.
Since then, we've grown into new products and markets, building our own ecommerce and distribution channels. Still, we maintain our shop on Etsy. Why? As much as Etsy has evolved over the last decade, we continue to believe in their vision - a marketplace where people around the world connect, both online and offline, to make, sell and buy unique goods.
In honor of Etsy's contribution to the maker-sphere, I'm starting Friday Favorites on the Lamborn Studio blog to highlight and curate our favorite Etsy shops, designers, and makers. Below is a peek of some of the favorites to come.
See you on Friday!
